No Obama Tickets for Me
By kenya on Jul 10, 2008 in General
Today Barack Obama spoke in Fairfax, Virginia, about Economic Security for America’s Women. Yesterday I tried to get tickets. I got an email about it on Tuesday night. I found out that they were giving out the free tickets at two locations – one in Woodbridge the other in Fairfax. I wanted to go there before work but went to work first instead.
I stood in this line for about 10 to 15 minutes before I found out that this was the line for the waitlist. All of the tickets from this location had already been given out. It started raining shortly after.
When I got inside the building, I found that they had received 200 tickets from the Woodbridge location and would start going through the waitlist which was already 300 deep.
Here’s my audio commentary.
There was a lady there who had already seen him at the Nissan Pavilion is Bristow, Virginia. There were two men who seemed to be trying to game the system by not putting their name on the wait list thinking they had a better shot at tickets that way – I’m not sure what kind of logic they were using. Most people were nice but it was really crowded. A news team from WJLA showed up as well.
I would stay for at least 30 more minutes before deciding to go back to work since it was a such long shot that I would get tickets. Maybe next time.
It’s a good thing Obama streams his campaign stops live. If you missed it watch it now.
Help Needed
On a side note, Obama Fairfax campaign office had just opened that day. According to this sign, they need tables, chairs, computers, and food. They are also looking for volunteers.
